TERRA-HAMMER TR 360 rams bollard in the Zürich lake
The front bollard of the ferry harbour in Meilen, Switzerland at the lake of Zürich had to be reinforced. This was done by the contractor Willy Stäubli Ing. AG, a specialist for water constructions. The company Stäubli decided to ram a steel pipe with Ø 1000 mm (40”) vertically in to the lake bed. This steel pipe was connected underneath a pontoon, so it could “swim” to the jobsite. After the pontoon had reached the jobsite, the steel pipe was put vertically and adjusted. Now the TERRA-HAMMER TR 360 could ram the steel pipe down into the lake bed. Afterwards the new steel pipe and the old bollard were connected by a welded steel frame.
The steel pipe is lifted and adjusted in a vertical position. On the pontoon you can see an air compressor, an electrical power generator, a crane and two containers for equipment and personnel.
