In the Swiss city Oberdorf in the canton Solothurn an old gas pipe had to be renewed. The old pipe consisted of a 2” steel pipe. Rudi Frutig from Mühlethurnen, owner of the contractor Frutig AG decided to realise this pipe renewal job with the TERRA-EXTRACTOR
X 400 and a roller cutter 2”. The roller cutter was equipped with an additional cutting roll for extra large joints. They pulled in a new HDPE pipe OD 63 mm (2.5”) from the pipe supplier Simona AG.
The total length of 255 m (840 ft) was divided into
4 sections. The pipe bursting job was finished within
3 working days.
The bursting tool consisting of the roller cutter 2“, the extra large cutting roll and the expander cone Ø 100 mm (4”).
The roller cutter is pulled into the old steel pipe. The cutting rolls begin to cut.
The new HDPE pipe OD 63 mm (2.5“) from Simona AG is pulled in.
The bursting tool with the new pipe arrives in the “pulling pit“.
The cable burster is positioned onto the edge of the “machine pit”, to pull in the new pipe in the required length.
